Elspeth began dancing at the age of 5 under the guidance of Gayleen Gow, in her home town of Beaudesert, Australia. Her passion was ballet and contemporary but like most, tap and jazz were also in her repertoire. She completed her tap and jazz training to Gold Star level through the then Federal Association of Teachers of Dance (now ADA). She trained in RAD ballet, completing both her Gr8 and Intermediate examinations. She was accepted into two youth dance companies during high school, Youth Ballet Theatre, and Australia: The Young Dancers Company and thoroughly enjoyed her time on the stage.

After beginning her dance teacher training, Elspeth took a break from dance during her university years as completing her Veterinary Science and Agricultural Science degrees took priority. After moving to New Zealand in 2012, Elspeth has found her way back to dance, completing her Ballet Teachers training with BBO Dance as well as continuing her study in Tap, Jazz and Acro dance. With the purchase of Clutha Dance in late 2016, Elspeth has taken leave from her work as a vet to concentrate her time on dance as well as spend time with her husband Max and every growing fur family.
